I'm updating this blog at 10:20 PM. Not my usual schedule, I assure you.
In fact, I usually blog everything on Sunday, and schedule it to post, but this last weekend I was beating my head against a wall of writer's block. If you've been following my author blog for the upcoming YA book, you know that my manuscript is done.
Well, it was almost done. My editor came back with a few tiny tweaks and one big thing that unfortunately was going to change the ending a bit. Not in a way that seriously altered my story, but it created some ripples that I had to figure out how to address.
For some reason, it just wasn't coming. I was brain-fried. And stressed.
The day job has been picking up, my kids seem to be fighting more than they're breathing, I have a dozen projects around the house that seriously need to get done and I just felt too overwhelmed to address a bit of it.
I smacked my face a few times, pulled up some bootstraps and just wrote. Badly, at first, but that's what rereading and editing is for. I just plowed through it, and by God, this book is really, really good. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am about that.
So please excuse my sloppy blogging lately. I'm over the hump now, and I should be on a more even keel - at least until the next book.
Oh, I like the sound of that. I really, really do.
