When my daughter was younger, she had a peculiar quirk. She could never get through a viewing of Spiderman. I mean, Tobey Maguire Spiderman - which is the only Spiderman, as far as I'm concerned. We'd put the movie in, she'd get about to where he meets the Green Goblin, and blammo - out like a light.
I had a similar phenomenon after my ex moved out. I suddenly had every other weekend alone in my house - when I hadn't slept alone (other than the occasional business trip) in a loooooong time. Every little creak and shuffle freaked me out, so I started falling asleep with the TV on.
The Fellowship of the Ring. And that's not because I find it boring - I love the whole trilogy. But they do an awful lot of walking and murmuring, and the scenery is so pretty. It just sort of lulls you, in spite of the orcs.
Another good one - though some nights it had me sobbing instead of snoring - is Pride and Prejudice. The music is lovely, everything's pretty and they're all so well-mannered. Very soothing.
Lately, I've found Jupiter Ascending to be fairly snoozy. I actually like the movie (despite the critics panning it). But they murmur a lot and Channing Tatum is just hot sex on wolfy legs in that movie. Not a bad way to nod off.
What about you? Do you have a movie that lulls you that way?
