As some of you may recall, I wrote this book. I wrote it a while ago and spent the better part of a year or more stumping it out, pitching it like mad, querying editors and agents and all but begging on the street corners over it.
And in the middle of July, it all paid off.
I have a book deal. Read my author announcement here!
Not just any book deal, mind you, but a book deal with MacMillan, one of the big five (!) as part of the YA imprint, Swoon Reads. And as of two weeks ago when I signed that big and impressive contract, I am officially a novelist.
Karma. It's a good thing. A very, very good thing.
It's coming home from my day job, making dinner for my kids, doing homework, doing laundry, shuttling them off to bed and sitting there with my laptop on my legs as I typed until my eyes couldn't focus anymore.
It's spending every kid-free weekend staring at my manuscript and carving it up with a red pen and pulling out the laptop to type some more, even when I secretly felt nobody would probably ever read it.
They did. And here I am, a novelist.
You'll see Traveler in print in early spring of 2017. There's more to this still (saving another surprise for later), but for now, know that my proverbial chickens have come home to roost, and this single mom is flying high.
I'm a novelist, ya'll. I really am.
I'll be writing my YA stuff under the slightly-altered moniker of L.E. DeLano, mainly because I have some non-fiction titles out under my name and I want to avoid any market confusion. So feel free to read my backstory (and all about the deal and how it came to be) at my YA Author Blog: LEDeLano.com. You can also follow me on Facebook (and please, for the love of all that's holy, LIKE me. I need it!) at https://www.facebook.com/authorledelano and on Twitter at https://twitter.com/LE_DeLano.
Can't wait to make this journey, and thanks so much to all of you who've been cheering from the sidelines. I heard you.
I heard you and I believed in me.
