Getting Through Your Writer's Block Can Be An Occasionally Jarring Experience

I am having SERIOUS writer's block right now. This is a huge problem because I have not one, but two books I need to finish and it is imperative that I finish both this week. I mean THIS week. I'm mostly done with both of them - down to final edits now - but I'm hitting passages that need a huge rewrite and I'm just not feeling it.

Sometimes, when this happens, the best thing to do is write something else. I'll pop over to my fanfiction account and toss something out there or I blog or sometimes, I scour the internet for sites that feature writing prompts. You never know, something may click.

It's like that old adage: "If you want something done, ask a busy person to do it." Sitting around thinking about your writer's block doesn't get your creative juices flowing, so go write something that does and then once you're rolling, it's all good.

I checked into one of the online writer's communities I belong to and they had a link up to this site:

ineedaprompt.com

The site is set up to generate random, quirky writing prompts, so I gave it a whirl. Here's what it gave me:

A bank robber lathering up a childish mime.

Well. Alrighty, then.

I got nothin'.

Not only do I got nothin' but I'm not sure I want to have somethin'. Not with this prompt.

What the hell?

So I guess I'll stick with smutty fanfiction to get the juices flowing - if you'll pardon the expression - and hope the rest of my creativity gets its ass in gear.

Back to work, Ellie...
